Happy YOU Year!

City

On December 31st at 11:59 pm life presses CTRL+Delete and erases all the bull**** of the past year. With the stroke of midnight you not only get a great excuse to pop open the bubbly but also a clean slate for new mistakes experiences, new adventures and a new you. This year forget about the same resolutions you make year after year (and forget about the minute the holiday fever is gone). Make small changes, small goals and big plans. 2017 starts with these three bold moves.

Say no to clutter

You know all those phones you broke (or upgraded) that you still keep in your desk? Buh bye! Your ex’s leftovers? In the box to the left! Pants you haven’t worn since high school? See ya! Ask yourself this: If I haven’t used it in a year, do I need it? We are all guilty of hording mementos from past relations, clothes that might one day come back in style or magazines we might read again…Enough! Declutter and you will feel so much lighter. Your old clothes can be donated to shelters or resold at thrift shops. Books can find new homes in hospitals or libraries. Whatever you have that’s too precious for garbage (and you no longer need) can become someone else’s treasure.

Unplug

Seriously. Pretend the apes have taken over the world and internet no longer exists. While you’re at it, imagine texting is now outlawed (we’re not crazy, this is going somewhere). If you are one of those people that takes your phone with you to the bathroom (guilty) or documents every second of your day you need to UNPLUG! Take an hour break from your cell, computer or tablet and go outside, take a nap, read a book. Leave your phone in a different room overnight so it’s not the first thing you check in the morning. Put your settings on hourly alerts instead of immediate notifications. Just give yourself a break: staying connected 24/7 is exhausting.

 Live Life

Stop living vicariously through your Instagram feed.  Instead of liking your friend’s trip to Thailand; pack your back and go! Stop posting about what you eat, just enjoy it! Hiking in gorgeous new shoes for the perfect selfie? No more! Get your feet dirty, your hair wet and your make-up smeared. It’s worth it! Instead of documenting your life for others start living it for yourself.
